One night Sunderland singer-songwriter Mark Scott was at a gig in Newcastle. Bubble Project member Ian Black was at this particular gig, and after a few too many drinks and a night at blu-bambu an idea was formed. This idea was to combine the songwriting of the aforementioned Mr. Scott with the musical tour-de-force of the Bubbles.
So, with this in mind, and originally titled 'Mark Scott and the Alphabets', the band got together with only 11 days to write a sets worth of songs for their debut gig. Immediately clicking, songs of the finest indie-pop quality flowed from the brains of the two pop-scientists and the twee loving singer/songwriter. The result was a blend of old and new, fusing electronics with good old fashioned simple guitar, the kind of music that anyone can play but that anyone could love. The band then added saxaphonist Becca Evans, to boost their sound and give them something a bit different.
Taking a love of the Beach Boys and doo-wop the band has carved out a lovely, bouncy, fun and enjoyable new sound. Together with a passion for the beautiful, the melancholy, the bittersweet and of sheer unabridled love and joy, hope to bring something truly unique to gigs. Now just 'The ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZs' (pronounced Alphabets, think !!!/Chk Chk Chk), want to make you smile with the sheer joy of playing their music and serenade you with their bad Spanish.
